McClure Wedding @ Stone Hill – Sublett Studios

Sarah and Travis’s wedding at The Stone Hill Barn in Augusta Kansas last weekend was one I will never forget. Meeting them both for the first time at the wedding made me nervous; as I always meet the bride and groom prior to the wedding day. Sarah is in the military and was overseas serving our country. Can you imagine trying to plan your wedding in another country? She has amazing sisters and friends who helped her along the way. Travis lived in Oklahoma at the time, so we never had the chance to meet as well. Even though we only spoke through emails over the course of planning, I felt like I’ve known this couple for some time as soon as we met on the wedding day. They are that friendly and easy going.

This couple has the most amazing proposal story. Since Sarah is traveling a lot due to her job, they have spent a lot of time a part. During the duration of a year a part from each other, they pretty much already decided to get married. When Travis came to visit Sarah in Bali, he proposed to her on top of a volcano!! A volcano folks! It doesn’t get more romantic then that! Sarah got her dream proposal then the two of them got hitched here in Kansas around family and friends.

Sarah and Travis are a true genuine, down to hearth couple that we totally connected with instantly. Throughout the day they did not show any nervousness as everything came together beautifully as they knew it would. They really were the type of bride and groom we always love to work with. You can tell they both have big hearts for the people in their lives.

The day started out in the house next to the barn where the girls were getting ready. This “house” at Stone Hill was built just for the wedding party! What!!? When I got there I thought, wow… that must be where the owners of the venue live. Nope… they built it right next to the barn just for the wedding party and the bride and groom to stay after. It’s gorgeous!!! Barn doors everywhere… that rustic look and feel. It’s pretty amazing and I wouldn’t shut up about it when we were taking the getting ready photos. Another great thing about this venue is it is geared towards photography. Natural light every which way you look in the house and barn. I didn’t have to bust out any artificial light until the reception.

The ceremony was stunning inside the barn. I am sure since they decided on a February wedding the weather could go any which way it chooses in Kansas. Luckily, it was beautiful and sunny in the mid 50s. That Kansas wind though… if it wasn’t for the breezy large gusts, I would’ve been a much happier girl. 😉 It made it all better when they brought their dogs in to be their flower girl and ring bearer. Hey, their a part of the family too! And they were oh so cute in their outfits.

Since they decided on a first look, we finished all the formals before the ceremony. We were able to sneak out for a few sunset photos as the sun was just getting ready to set after the ceremony. It was perfect timing to catch the golden hour. We did some photos out in the trees and of course in the opening to get that golden glow. We had to get the shot in the balcony door that overlooks the land from the barn as well. I am so happy Sarah and Travis were up for anything. The party started, they made their entrance with their awesome wedding party and the dance floor was hopping all night.

Sarah and Travis,

Thank you for letting us be a part of your most special day. I hope that we captured all that you wanted and more and that these images will always be precious memories you can hold on to for years to come. We were so delighted to meet you both and hope to see you again when your back in Kansas for a visit. We wish you the best of luck on your new adventure together and also on your journey to another country you will soon call home.
