Randi And Jeff | Cathedral Wedding in Wichita Kansas | Wichita Kansas Wedding Photographer

Randi and Jeff were a delight to work with on November 24th, 2017. This wedding took place on Black Friday, at the Cathedral downtown. It was absolutely stunning, to say the least, and both Randi and Jeff were easy going, and so fun to work with.

Jeff and Randi met on a blind date! His brother-in-law teaches middle school with Randi at St. Francis, and he is the one who set them up. She still remembers him walking into a meeting and saying, “Randi, I want you to go on a date.” She just rolled her eyes and thought that there was no way she was going on a blind date. He kept going on and on about how he thought she would get along great with Jeff, but she was resisting the idea of going out with some guy she had never met. Randi hesitated but eventually gave in and gave him permission to pass along her phone number. A week later, Jeff picked Randi up, took her to dinner and a comedy show, and the rest is history!

Jeff proposed in possibly the most romantic way possible: a surprise trip to the Caribbean. Last April, on the Wednesday before Easter, Randi came home after school to a packed suitcase and a letter. In the letter, Jeff told her not to open the suitcase (he had put a zip tie around the zipper) and to call him when she was ready for him to come over. He walked into Randi’s house with a smile on his face and a tear in his eye, and they hit the road. They drove to Oklahoma City where they were flying out (she didn’t know that until later) and spent the night. Jeff woke Randi up at 3:30 a.m., drove to the airport, and hopped on a flight to Atlanta. Randi didn’t know until they got to the gate in Atlanta that St. Maarten was going to be their final destination! She was so excited!! They spent two beautiful days on the beach. On the third day, Jeff woke her up and said the taxi was picking them up at 8:30. The taxi showed up, right on time, and drove them to a little marina. Jeff had chartered a private sailboat to take them to an uninhabited island. They explored the island, just the two of them, for a few hours. Finally, while sitting on the beach of the private island, Jeff asked Randi what she was thinking about being whisked away on such a romantic trip. She told him she didn’t know, and he said, “Well if you stand up, I’ll tell you.” Randi stood up, he pulled a ring out of his go pro box, and he asked her to be his wife. 🙂

It was the most gorgeous 70 degrees on that November day. My associate and I started the afternoon off with Randi and the girls, capturing them getting ready, drinking mimosas and compiling all the details. We all made it to the cathedral in time for the first look and formals. We captured most of them in the courtyard and in front of the Cathedral steps. We got locked out of the church, but no worries, we found a way in. The ceremony was breathtaking, and all their family and friends were there to pack the house. After the ceremony, we met the bridal party on top of the parking garage, with sparklers. We had very limited time for these long exposure shots, but they turned out amazing.

The reception took place at St. Francis in west Wichita. I remember Randi telling me about her dream wedding cake, the one she’s always wanted since she was a little girl. It was beautiful, classic, and made with love by her own mom! I wanted to dig in right away, as you could smell the sweet frosting when you walked through the doors. The couple made their fun entrance, shared their first dance together, and listened to hilarious toasts from their dearest friends. Their guests got to dance the night away to the live band, Groove 42.
