Haylie and Jake’s wedding took place at the new Madison Avenue Central Park Venue in Derby Kansas. It was just as gorgeous as I imagined it would be. When Haylie and Jake booked me as their photographer and told me they were getting married there, I was ecstatic! I love getting the opportunity to photograph weddings at new exciting venues.
Jake proposed to Haylie in early August 2016. It was their last night in New York when he surprised her with an important question and beautiful ring. Sitting on the hill, overlooking the water and watching the boats go by, Haylie did not see it coming. Luckily they had a friend nearby to capture this moment for them. Jake pulled off his plan perfectly!
I was able to work with Haylie and Jake months before their wedding. They decided on a fall engagement session which turned out beautifully! We started out at the keeper of the plains and finished up at Oak park. Haylie being a dance coach brought her ballet flats for a few photos. You can check out their engagement session here!
The wedding took place on a brisk Saturday in March. We just got done with a long week of crazy wind and grass fires in surrounding cities. The forecast kept changing as the wedding day approached and we ended up with a very cold weekend in the 30s. Can someone say – burr? Even though it was overcast and cold, Haylie and Jake toughed it out with us and did all of their formal pictures outside around the venue. When these two were together you would not know they were frozen from head to toe. They would not separate their gaze from one another nor stop holding on to each other. Their love towards one another was evident. Before their first look, they did a letter exchange. The tears were flowing and it was hard to keep mine back watching the two of them. Their rock star of a wedding party even braved the cold for some amazing wedding party photos. They huddled together for warmth but I didn’t hear one person complain. They were all amazing!
The ceremony was sweet and simple around all of their family and friends. They had the ceremony and reception in the same place so it made it super easy for the guests to stay, relax and have fun. Haylie went with her favorite lavender color that was perfect to start off spring. As you will see in the images below, the color palette she chose was gorgeous and eye catching. Her shoes sparkled, the bouquets were handmade and I love all the different styles the bridesmaids chose for their dresses. Haylie, of course, looked like a prima ballerina in her gorgeous white gown. It was all stunning, to say the least.
Haylie and Jake, no one deserves this perfect day more than the two of you. I am beyond blessed that I was chosen to be a part of it. Thank you for trusting in me to document this special time in your lives. I hope you both will be able to look back at your photos on each anniversary and remember what that day meant to you. I wish you both many blessings on your new journey together as husband and wife. Congratulations again!!!
Warmly,
Amber Sublett
