Melanie and Aaron’s wedding took place on May 20th, 2017 @ Blessed Sacrament in Wichita Kansas. This weekend was a blast as I had two amazing weddings back to back, this one being on Saturday. After getting a sneak peak of Melanie’s vision for the day, I was pumped with excitement! I love a couple who can be laid back and enjoy the day no matter what.
Melanie and Aaron are high school sweethearts! It is so rare to hear that these days and I love that they found each other so early on in life. Melanie’s best friend was dating Aaron’s best friend in high school. It was six years ago on June 14th when they started dating, and it was the summer before her first year of high school.
When Aaron decided to pop the question, it was on Christmas Eve in 2015. They had both graduated from college that December, so life was a little less hectic at the time. They had just opened up their presents with Melanie’s family and were settling into bed, then Aaron told her to close her eyes when he knelt down and asked her to marry him.
These two are truly a fun, laid back couple who shared so much love towards one another on their big day. They sported some comfy chucks and allowed the entire bridal party to participate which I thought was pretty awesome. You could see how tightly knit everyone was in this wedding. There was so much laughter, tears of joy, and hugs all day long.
We started off the day doing some getting ready shots with Melanie and the girls at the Hyatt down town. The weather was a bit chilly that morning ranging in the 60s and little breezy. We then headed straight to Blessed Sacrament right after to get ready for the ceremony. Since there was going to be a pretty large time frame in between the ceremony and reception, we decided to do all the formals afterwards. The ceremony was stunning and when we all left the church, it was time for some fun pictures with the bridal party down town. We choose to capture the bridal party pictures in front of the old train station on douglas. This is one of my most favorite locations as I absolutely love architecture and this building is spectacular. By this time it had warmed up quite a bit and the sky was so blue… it was perfect! After the bridal party left for the reception, we took Melanie and Aaron to Oak Park to finish up the two of them together. The previous storm had knocked over some trees, and the large amount of rain had made it a little overgrown. Fortunately for us, it made for some amazing shots! Afterwards, we booked it to 3130 where the reception was being held. They had breakfast food waiting and yummy donuts from hurtz. The party started and everyone was having a great time.
Melanie + Aaron,
Thank you for sharing your day with us and allowing us to document these special moments. It has been wonderful getting to know and work with you both. Cheers to a long happy marriage and many more blessings along the way.
Warmly
Amber Sublett
