This New Years Eve wedding was one for the books. Meg and Zach made their own traditions and did things the unconventional way. I loved everything about it!!!
Meg and Zach go way back in their relationship, sixth grade English class to be exact. This is when they first set eyes on each other. It wasn’t until Zach invited Meg to be in his rap group trio that she knew they were meant to be. After three school dances together, it wasn’t until Junior year they started to date. The rest was history!
Zach took Meg to the Konza trail after her college graduation. They frequented the trail throughout college, so this wasn’t anything out of the ordinary for Meg. Little did she know, Zach had the ring tucked between two rocks at the top of the hill. Once they got to the top, he got down on one knee and proposed. A friend was secretly hiding in the bushes and was able to capture the special and intimate moment.
This gorgeous winter wedding took place at Stone Hill Barn, one of my favorite venues in Augusta Kansas. It was sub zero temps outside that day, the coldest day of the year. We didn’t do much outdoors, but managed to run out for a few minutes to capture a few in front of the rustic barn. If you’ve been out there to see this barn, it’s an absolute must no matter how cold it is. 😉
Meg and Zach started out with doing a first look in the loft. We finished all the formals inside, did some creative loft photos, and tried not to go numb as we did a few outside in front of the barn. The short and sweet ceremony immediately followed, with plaid blankets in the front row for anyone needing some extra warmth. When the reception started, they had a large clock count down to midnight.
What did I love so much about this wedding? Well, the couple of course. Meg and Zach are adorable, and so fun and easy to work with. I loved Meg’s vintage wedding dress, and lace cape that her mother handmade. Their winter color palette of hunter green and silver was perfect, and Zach’s suit toped it off. I have never seen green on a groom before, and he pulled it off. This was a no flower wedding folks… my first ever in ten years!!! It didn’t make any difference one bit. It was actually perfect for winter and they didn’t need them. Also, I can’t forget to mention their sweet treats table. No cake at this wedding… there were stacks of donuts and cookies in the shape of their faces. 🙂 Who doesn’t love donuts, yum!!!
I didn’t stay until midnight, but I’m sure they had a great time with their friends and family ringing in the New Year. What a fun anniversary they will have each year together.
Meg and Zach,
