Emily and Michael’s wedding took place at Chapel Hill church in east Wichita on June 3rd, 2017. It was my first wedding at this church, and was automatically in love when I saw it looked like a barn. The sky was overcast and the storm was almost upon us when I arrived. Emily and Michael couldn’t of been more calm about the rain clouds. They were getting married and that’s all that mattered. They are a shinning example of the type of couple’s I love to work with: down to earth and putting Christ in the center of their relationship.

The two met as leaders at YoungLife (a Christian outreach program for high school aged kids). It was the first YoungLife event of the year at Andover Central Park that brought the two of them together.

When Michael proposed, it was in his hometown in Chadwick Missouri. They were sitting around a bonfire and had only been dating for four months, so this came as a big shock to Emily. She also knew he was the one, so she said yes of course.

Emily and Michael are a couple who are truly blessed that they found each other after already finding Christ first. Their marriage will always have a strong foundation because they put Christ in the center of their relationship. Their laughter, tears of joy and genuine hearts made me so happy to be their wedding photographer.

We started out the day capturing each group in prayer before the ceremony. I’m so thankful we got a few images of Emily with her bridesmaids and Michael with his groomsmen outside of the church beforehand. The rain decided to make an appearance, and it continued throughout the ceremony. Even though rain can be a damper on outdoor pictures, it can be refreshing, and there is always a plan B in my book.

After the beautiful ceremony, I took the couple to one of my plan B locations since rain was present, and we were able to get the bridal party pictures outside without getting soaked. The reception took place at the Petroleum Club downtown, so we made sure to get a few there as well before they made their entrance.

The reception was absolutely lovely. I had to hold back tears during all the toasts as all three of her brothers and father had the most genuine, sweet words to say to Emily and Michael. They cut their cake, mingled with their guests and had their first dance together as husband and wife. It was an evening to remember and I hope they will be able to relive it through their pictures.

Thank  you so much for asking me to be your photographer. I couldn’t of asked for a better couple to document with such an authentic love for one another. You both are a true example of how a marriage should start and I pray that Christ will always remain as your number one. I am so thankful to have met you both.
